Look at 'size' here - The Caspian Tern and Swift Tern might almost overlap in measured size (bill tip to tail tip) but body size is quite another thing. The Swift Tern seems tiny. Also at the beach here: Silver Gull (L. novaehollandiae), Pacific Golden Plover (P. fulva), Ruddy Turnstone (A. interpres) and Australian Pelican (P. conspicillatus).
Roebuck Bay is a shore bird hotspot! Broome Bird Observatory is a good place to stay and use as a base. |
