Oriental Cuckoo removed from the Finnish list!
The Finnish Rarities Committee made this weekend (28.8.2004) the decision to remove Oriental Cuckoo from the Finnish species list.
All Finnish observations of the species have been studied in detail (see Alula 9:122-133) and based on this investigation the birds cannot be certainly identified as Oriental Cuckoos. Thus all Finnish records are rejected and the species removed from the Finnish list.
A longer communique of this decision is due early next week.
