Billedet er taget lørdag den 2.feb. 2008 kl 1030 på lavastranden i Playa de las Americas vest for Los Cristianos, Tenerife.
Jeg havde set den flere gange tidligere i de foregående to uger, og havde lidt svært ved at bestemme den. Jeg mente først, det var en Purpurhejre, men den var ikke meget større end en Silkehejre, så der var noget, der ikke rigtigt stemte. Ved et besøg på en internetcafe kikkede jeg lige ind på netfugl, og fandt denne add. http://www.rarebirdspain.net/arbsr712.htm. Lidt nede på siden var der et billede af en fugl, der mistænkeligt mindede om den, jeg have set på stranden i løbet af ugen. Det var nu lørdag, og vi skulle rejse hjem om søndagen, så jeg fik lidt travlt, men det lykkedes at få et brugbart billede.

Jag tror att vi såg en Hydranassa tricolor i Aguamansa, Tenerifa 071110.

Go to Par Que Santiago IV. ( Hotel and shopping center) Here is a point, a tongue of land. Look 500 m east and west for this point.

Find the heron:
Start at the harbour in Los Cristianos and walk against Playa des Amerikas (Past a area of construction) When you reach the beach on the NW side of the harbour You should see a sandy beach that ends whit´some kinde of stone jetty. Go past this jetty. Keep follwing the beach to the next jetty. On the NV side of this jetty is an area whith a rocky "beach". About 200 m NV from the jetty I saw the heron today at noon. Its very easy to watch once you fund it, and all photographers will more than happy...
