One of the most abundant passerines in northern Oman during winter. At some localities they were literally everywhere. An interesting observation we made was that quite often desert wheaters were stalked by desert warblers! It seems quite common for these two species to be living in some sort of symbiosis at the winter quarters on the Arabian Peninsula. If you spot a desert wheatear in shrubby habitat in Oman, always make sure to thoroughly scan the ground around the wheatear for desert warbler! |
