| Dear SOLVEIG,
Wonderful photos!
Sunbird colours are 'unstable', i.e.
iridescent, changing with incident
light (lysindfald).
The male 'CRIMSON Sunbird' is dark
crimson with almost black forehead and
malar stripe (skægstribe)and a brownish
belly in Kazmierczak's Indian field guide.
With OPALESCENT BLUE stripes and forehead,
LUCENT red breast and Yellowish belly You
show us a Different, equally charming
appearance of Crimson S.!
As an Xtra snack You demonstrate a Rare
feature :
That the UNDER side of the bill is con-
colorous with throat and breast !!
Many thanks for adding to at least my
concept of the Crimson Jewel!
Best rgds. ........... C. |
