In almost every park of the city of Rome it is now possible to observe a few rose-ringed parakeets, especially where there are pine trees. They were reportedly introduced in Italy during the eighties. The other European city where I have also seen many of these birds, is Brussels in Belgium, where they seem even more numerous. They are usually quite vocal and therefore easy to find through their calls. They also often fly over building areas. |
