The bill is quite short for an adult so tentatively I would sex it as a female.

I now notice that there are scalings on the hind-scapulars and the streaking of the breast is stangely diffuse for an adult....is it the same juvenile on your two photos?
This would explain the very short - and too pale-coloured bill for an adult.....furthermore I don't recall to have seen dark spots on the crown of adult Greater Hoopoe-Larks.
Best regards
Peter

I am not sure that it is the same bird. We had 2 juveniles around us...

Eric,
More important than whether one or two individuals were photographed, is the fact that they were both juveniles.
Thanks for confirming this!
