Every year, during the two first weeks of August, the Sandvika beach in Vardø is the favoured place for young Red-necked Phalaropes. Max number I have registered is 600 birds (allmost all 1st-year birds) around the beach and the nearby breakwater (molo). more photos at:

And you couldn't have chosen a more spectacular entry....the composition, the dynamics, the subtle colours and the fact that all seven birds - even the number is significant - attain different positions of wings and legs contribute to the moving impact this magic image has on the viewer.....
