Endemic to 2-3 states of Mexico - not common but most common in scrub and mangrove (and smaller cities near by)in the far costal north of Yucatan and Quintana Roo. Here at 6 am in the morning at the ordinary size chicken-fence in front of a village-house - an app. 3 month old juvenile; - fully able to fly and 'escape'. By the way - the tail of the youngster shows the beginning 'shear-tail'. Another picture shows that the young bird was waiting to be 'serviced' by a parent bird. I presume that the young bird might be a female - white tail-tip - and plain white chin and breast. In 3 days 5 individuals was seen: 1 male and 4 females/one juvenile. All in village Rio Lagartos and Las Coloradas. As can be anticipated it is a SMALL bird :-) ... same individual as the other up-load (if accepted). |
