Putative Amur Falcon or aberrant Red-footed Falcon??? I left the bird unidentified certainly at the moment because two characters I don't know if can fit for Amur Falcon. The general appearance theoretically looks OK for the species, but the flank feathers seem to look oak leaf patterned mixed with arrowhead patterns (rear flank). The mask is strong and almost rounded edged, which is strange, but itself is not against or in favor of Red-footed or Amur.
Brief description: In the field it seemed to be slightly compacted in construction than the Red-footed Falcons. It has grey tail with dark transverse bands. Upperpart (cap, nape and back) grey. The remiges were black/blackish with white spots. Rear wing (trailing edge's band) black and relatively wide, obvious. The underwing pattern reminded chessboard drawing, undoubtedly black and white, which was very obvious and is strongly in favor of Amur. I have not noticed the presence of any brown color in underwing and whole underbody. Undertail coverts white or whitish.
