Born in Groningen, the Netherlands, where I started birding from the age of nine. I have been a very keen birder ever since. I watched and studied birds all over Europe, North-America, Australia, Asia and South-America. I got my Master’s degree in Biology at the University of Groningen (RuG). My research projects were all on the ecology of birds. My first time Ecuador was during a field study on the song evolution of the Gray-breasted Wood-wren. I fell deeply in love with the country and its birds and have been living in Quito for the last few years.
