Billede information:
Fugleart: Steppeørn - (Aquila nipalensis) - Steppe Eagle
Fugleart (IOC): Steppeørn (Aquila nipalensis) Steppe Eagle - species factsheet
Stemme: Stemmer findes her (eksternt link).
Lokalitet: Bagmati River, Kathmandu Valley, Nepal
Dato: 30. november 2010
Billede info: Photgraphed at almost the exact same spot as the 1cy bird a week ago. The picture shows a subadult bird. Comments regarding more precise age of the bird are welcome. Steppe Eagles migrate south through the Kathmandu Valley from October to December. Some of them come down to forage on the outskirts of the city. They go down to search the rubbish that is spread in the immensely polluted Bagmati River. Unfortunately the main water supply in the valley is being used as a floating rubbish dump. Today some 10+ Steppe Eagles were present along the river near Tauadaha Lake in the SW corner of the valley.

Kommentarer:

Jens Toftelund Madsen skriver tirsdag 30. november 2010 kl. 11.24
With only two generations of flight feathers, four innermost primaries and innermost secondary 2nd generation and the rest juvenile, I think this bird can be safely aged as 2cy.

Best regards

Jens
