The Kiskunsagi NP (approx 2 hours drive South of Budapest)is a "mecca" for specialised summer breeding birds and is an equal to the more famous Hortobagy NP, without a doubt.
Many thanks, MARK, for Roller Splendour [Ellevild],
incl. turquoise-blue front-edge of arm and the
Black spot distally on the slightly elongated
distal tail feathers.

Its (Adult) feet appear more conspicuously YELLOW
than shown in e.g. SVENSSON and BEAMAN.
NOTE :
Its toes are not widely spread - the outer ones
being partly syndactylous [sammenvoksede].
Though outline [omrids] approaches Jackdaw's, it
avoids WALKING on the ground (!)
- i.e. like (our) Cuckoos.

Hi Mark,
The Kiskunság NP is the best place in Hungary for taking photos and watching this bird. The place and around where you took this pic, breeding the 10% of the hungarian Roller population.
Last year was an excellent one, because that was the most rainy year in the last 10 years in Hungary. Roller could find varied prey (snail, frog. etc.)in small ponds and around (for example on my pic).
