This falcon puzzled me in the field. It showed rufous colours on the neck and a reddish tone on cheek and chest. That gave made me think of Lanner Falcon, but the moustache was way too broad and it lacked brown markings on the black.
After some research and discussion I believe the bird to be a Peregrine ssp. brookei, which can show these features thus resembling both Lanner and Barbary Falcon to some extent. |
