Dungarpur District is not usually on Birdwatching itinaries but actually has great wetlands which attract migrant species in large numbers. The town of Dungarpur itself has a lake, Gaibsager where I found 117 species in the course of a few walks. And if the budget is up to it the The Udai Bilas Palace hotel has to be expierienced. Situated on Gaibsagar Lake it is the prime location for observation, and the birds come remarkably close. The Maharaja is an enthusiastic conservationist and very helpful to visiting birdwatchers. |
